Today is saturday and I thought a new easy hair tutorial for the coming week would be great and I had a lot of compliments on it. It is really simple but looks quite fancy and complicated even though it doesn't take too much time to do.
I'm sure anybody can do it, as long as you have long enough hair as it does require a bit of length (no need for it to be as long as mine though)
I call it the FANCY 4 STRANDS PLAIT.
I put some pictures but I think that you will need to read my explanation really carefully and follow them very thoroughly. If you can't do it at first, take a breath and try again. If you're not used to all this, it may take a few times until you get it.
Right, let's start :)
What you will need:
- A brush to smoothe away all the knots before going any further
- 3 little elastics (I personally use clear ones as it does make it look more finished)
What you can do:
- Use a comb to tease the top of you hair as it may be quite flat due to the weight of the plait.
- Put any other accessory to make it more fancy: headband, flower clips, bows, etc.
So first what I did is put all my hair on the side just to make it easier but you can do it as you want it. What you want to do is tie them up in an elastic just to hold them.
What you want to do next is grab a little section of hair and do a simple three strand plait all the way to the bottom. This will be one of the 4 strands you'll be using for the full plait.
Once this step is achieved, you want to separate the rest of the hair in three equal strands.
Once you've done that you have 4 strands, one of which is the little braid if everything is right. What you need to understand is that I'm going to call the first one the outer one and the forth one the inner one.
The plaited strand normally needs to be the second strand as this will change everything if it isn't (it is the third one on the picture but depending on how you look at it, it could be considered as the second, let's say the second or the third could work depending on how you start your braid afterwards).
Back to our sheeps, what you want to do is take the strand the further away from the plaited strand (here it is the outer one = the first one) and put it under the 2nd strand and over the third strand. If you follow me correctly, your plaited strand should now be the second one.
Once you've done that, take the inner strand (4) and bring it over the third strand and under the second strand. Now the braid should be back to its original position (the third strand).
You now want to repeat the exact same steps over and over again:
Outer strand, place it under and over.
Inner strand, place it over and under.
Do that all the way to the bottom and once you're finished, you can tie it up in an elastic. You can also pull the strands a bit to make the plait appear bigger and messier.
If this isn't clear AT ALL, let me know and I may do a video just so it is easier for you but I'm sure that if you take your time at reading and practice, it will be fine!
Because I have no one taking the pictures for me, I can't take pictures everytime I do a step without it being really complicated (I am holding four strands already!) so sorry about that :)
If you have any questions, let me know.
Hope you enjoyed it and hope you won't have too much trouble doing this hairstyle!
